Christmas Morning

Last night, we made chocolate fudge for Santa. I didn’t feel like making cookies again; Willa has an ear infection and I feel like I might be coming down with something too. I’ve failed at making fudge a few times this year. I used to make it all the time, so I’m not sure why it’s been so difficult this Christmas. But last night I finally got it right.

Dan and I talked about how much these girls have been through this year. A new baby, a few moves, two new preschools, new helpers in our home. They certainly deserve some new things from Santa.

I don’t think Santa was thinking ahead, though. Ethiopia is a long way from everywhere and it’s hard to get things here. Maybe the girls should start writing up their Christmas lists now for next year.

Santa ate a small plate of fudge and left a sweet note.

Charlotte woke us up early this morning yelling, “Santa brought a dump truck! Santa brought a dump truck!”

Yeah, Santa didn’t go overboard this year. But the girls didn’t seem to mind a bit. Our families sent plenty of wonderful gifts.

Even poor, sick little Willa was in pretty good spirits.

Cakes and cupcakes are in our future!

I made pancakes and bacon for breakfast. We’re downloading “It’s a Wonderful Life” right now but it’ll take several hours before it’s ready to watch. Later on, we’ll Skype with our families. Dan has a massage booked this afternoon.

Merry Christmas, everyone!
